Brian Colón, Managing Partner of New Mexico Singleton Schreiber, was recently featured in a KRQE story titled "Deadline for Filing FEMA Claims for Hermits Peak Calf Canyon Fire Fast Approaching," discussing the deadline approaching to file a claim with FEMA for anyone affected by the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon Fire (the largest wildfire in state history).
Colón stated "This is not something that people can take lightly [...] while some people are hoping it's going to change, you shouldn't bet on it [...] The federal government has said that they will make people whole, but they can only do that if they [those who were affected] file their notices of loss."
Any further claims need to be post marked by 11:59 pm MDT on December 20th, 2024. Currently, FEMA has received over 18,000 claims and over 12,000 of them, at least, have been paid out partially.
