Singleton Schreiber was recently mentioned in Black Voice News' article, "Eaton Fire Burns through Altadena, Historic Black Neighborhood", which covers the recent Eaton Fire in Altadena, CA and how families in the historic working-class Black community are struggling to recover with the destruction of their homes and the long-term challenges many face including insurance cancellations, predatory investors making undervalued and unsolicited offers to impacted families, and systematic inequality.
The article continues by providing a personal perspective with a family, The Bryants, draws a parallel between the Eaton Fire and predictions made by Octavia E. Butler in her 1993 novel, "Parable of the Sower", and closes by saying that while the fire's cause is still under investigation, utility company Southern California Edison (SCE) is being held as responsible in the ongoing wildfire lawsuits as a result of their negligence and ignorance to heed warnings of extended droughts and strong Santa Ana winds.
"[Southern California Edison] showed negligence, recklessness, and willful failure to properly, safely, and prudently inspect, repair, maintain, and operate the electrical equipment in its utility infrastructure", said Singleton Schreiber, the NAACP, and other attorneys.
