Jacob Payne, Senior Counsel of Singleton Schreiber was recently featured on KRQE, discussing how victims of the 2022 Hermits Peak Calf Canyon Fire in New Mexico are still struggling to receive federal assistance for recovery, with claims stalled or unaddressed. Despite ongoing efforts to work with FEMA, considering several lawsuits have already been filed against them before, he is ready to pursue more legal action if necessary.
Payne shared, "We continue to work within the system that FEMA has created. We continue to try to meet with them regularly and get that information. If they continue to not follow through, we’ve had several lawsuits already, and we have no problem bringing it back in front of the judge and say, 'Hey we had this agreement; they have the law; they are not following it, Judge, we need to make it happen.'”
