Plenty of Fish, often abbreviated as POF, is an online dating platform with more than 150 million registered users worldwide. Founded in 2003, the company is owned by the Match Group, which owns and operates other popular dating platforms, including Tinder, Match.com, OkCupid, and Hinge, among others.
When a user creates an account on Plenty of Fish, they are able to select preferences and provide information that is used to search for potential matches, including a minimum and maximum age range. However, there are certain scenarios where the website’s search engine, which contains an age range filter, will override the user’s preference. Instead of providing potential matches covering the entire desired age range, the platform limits matches to within a certain number of years of the user’s age.
