Singleton Schreiber is proud to announce the promotion of Michelle Meyers to Partner. Based in the firm’s Sacramento office, Michelle joined the firm in 2023 and has quickly emerged as a powerhouse in insurance recovery and fire litigation. Prior to her time at Singleton Schreiber, Michelle served as a deputy attorney for the State of California’s Department of Transportation and has decades of experience on some of the most consequential and complex cases impacting Californians.
Michelle currently leads two separate class action lawsuits challenging insurance industry practices around nonrenewals. In Badin v. Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, filed in San Diego County, she represents policyholders dropped by their insurance providers based on alleged poor property conditions identified through aerial imagery—often without accurate cause or the opportunity to dispute the findings.
In a second case, Ginsberg et al. v. Safeco Insurance Company of America et al., filed in Los Angeles County, Michelle represents homeowners similarly impacted by nonrenewals stemming from misrepresented property conditions. Both lawsuits aim to hold Liberty Mutual and its subsidiaries accountable for opaque and potentially unlawful practices, with the broader goal of safeguarding policyholders in fire-prone California.
Her leadership in these cases is paving the way for broader accountability and change in how insurance companies operate, especially in fire-prone areas. These cases have statewide implications, particularly in the wake of the Los Angeles wildfires, as homeowners already facing risk are forced into costly and inferior last-minute alternatives.
"Michelle’s sharp legal mind, deep trial experience, and fearless pursuit of justice make her an exceptional addition to our partnership," said Gerald Singleton, managing partner of Singleton Schreiber. "Her work is already reshaping the insurance landscape and protecting the rights of thousands of homeowners. This promotion reflects her outstanding contributions to our firm and to the communities we serve."
"I’m honored to step into this new role and continue the fight for those who’ve been wronged by the very companies they trusted to protect them," said Michelle. "Singleton Schreiber is a place where big, meaningful work gets done and I’m excited to keep pushing forward with this incredible team."
